The Lowy Institute’s annual New Voices conference is being convened in Papua New Guinea for the first time – on Monday 22 October.  The conference will bring together the future generation of PNG’s leaders to debate the big issues affecting PNG and its place in the world.  About 100 representatives from business, government, civil society and media will meet at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby to talk about the transformation of the nation’s economy, the changing role of civil society and media and PNG’s international choices and place in the Asian century.
The younger generation will wear the consequences of decisions made today by PNG’s politicians, businesspeople and government officials, so it is vital their opinions are heard and they are given opportunities to shape PNG’s future place in the world.
Conference speakers include Allan Bird, Anthony Yauieb, Amanda Donigi, Jeffry Feeger, Emmanuel Narokobi, Jennifer Baing, Effrey Dademo, Douveri Henao, Scott Waide, Josephine Oberleuter and Tavurvur.  Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Secretary Lucy Bogari and Dame Carol Kidu will speak at the conference reception.
