MEDIA RELEASE

Enga Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Martin Lakari has revealed this afternoon that polling in the province has now been moved to Wednesday June 27 instead of tomorrow (Tuesday June 26).

He says this is due to the last arrival of security personnels from the Southern Highlands Province, who are expected to provide security at polling sites in Kandep, Kompiam-Ambum, Lagaip-Pogera, Wabag and Wapenamanda.

Only a few of the 2,356 security personnels who are supposed to provide security for the sites arrived this afternoon. More are expected to arrive during the night and tomorrow.

Meanwhile in only one reported incident, the Returning Officer of the Kompiam-Ambun electorate was attacked by supporters and candidates this afternoon between 1-2pm whilst he had attempted to provide awareness on the LPV system.

The ballot boxes are currently being sorted out at the Wabag Primary School in preparation for distribution to polling sites.
